Codex August Updates

Welcome to the Codex newsletter. Our monthly update offers a regular look into the development of the decentralised durability engine and peer-to-peer storage protocol.
Every month, we explore key developments, updates, and insights within the Codex ecosystem.
Below are the major updates from Codex for August 2025.
Pausing Testnet for Our Next Phase of Development
We have listened to your feedback from the Codex testnet, and we are grateful to everyone who participated and helped to test the protocol. As we shift focus to core design and specifications, we have decided to pause the current testnet.
The next phase of Codex’s development will focus on stronger foundations and revisiting core architecture to make Codex more usable, more resilient, and better aligned with real-world needs.
A new testnet is already on the horizon. Stay tuned, and thank you for your feedback, which has helped shape the vision for the next improved iteration of Codex.
AI and Durable, Decentralised Storage
In August, we collaborated with Qubetics to integrate Codex's decentralised storage into their AI-centric product stack. The initial use case saw QubeQobe libraries stored in SLM format on Codex.
AI demonstrates the true potential of decentralised storage by allowing training data to persist durably at scale and remain accountable. By storing data on a censorship-resistant, distributed network with immutable provenance, Codex will provide a valuable platform for AI businesses and developers, as well as those who want to be rewarded for providing storage capacity to these data-intensive applications.
In another demonstration of use cases for the Codex storage protocol, Codex DevRel Guru built an on-chain feedback exchange and management platform that uses Waku and Codex Storage and runs on the Status Network gasless L2 blockchain.
Evolution of Codex
As announced in July, Codex is undergoing a significant evolution. We are transitioning to a new approach that is more closely aligned with the wider vision of the Logos ecosystem.
While things may be quieter as we realign and build the framework for this next chapter, our mission remains clear. We are working to deliver a censorship-resistant, reliable, and developer-friendly storage protocol.
We will soon reveal more information about this evolution and its positive impact on the broader Logos tech stack.
In the meantime, we encourage developers, builders, and contributors passionate about digital sovereignty and decentralised infrastructure to get involved.

Events
The Codex team joined fellow Logos projects, developers, and activists at several Logos Circle events worldwide last month, strengthening connections across the movement.
August gatherings took place in Los Angeles, Lisbon, and Brno, and we are excited to continue contributing to and supporting many more in the months ahead - including the upcoming Logos Circle in Barcelona on September 9th!
