Codex November Updates
Welcome to the Codex newsletter. Our monthly update offers a regular look into the development of the decentralised durability engine and peer-to-peer storage protocol.
Every month, we explore key developments, updates, and insights within the Codex ecosystem.
Below are the major updates from Codex for November 2024.
Codex Testnet, New Release, and Continous Feedback
For those new to the newsletter: Codex is a p2p decentralised durability engine (DDE) intended to stave off hacks, leaks, censorship, and outages. Its ultimate aim is to be the world’s archive, where an immutable digest of history resides in perpetuity. The team recently launched its non-incentivized testnet for early adopters and data-protection enthusiasts to test, harden, and provide feedback.
To learn more about Codex, read the whitepaper.
With the release of its testnet, Codex continues to ramp up its efforts to develop a sustainable decentralised data durability engine. Of course, this is still in the early alpha stages, and the testnet requires much more testing and feedback cycles. To date, 314 users have claimed the testnet role via our discord. For a non-incentivized testnet, this represents critical information.
Codex also continues to push new releases for its implementations, with the most recent Release Codex 0.1.9 in production. View the releases below:
The team is seeking rapid feedback on its testnet and most recent deployments. Please visit the Discord server to sign up for the testnet. Leave comments on Discord and let the team know how the protocol is working for you.
Decentralized Data Summit 2024 Recap
Codex recently held its first Decentralised Data Summit before Devcon in Bangkok, Thailand. The event was a tremendous success, with many speakers from the p2p data world participating and adding critical value.
The Summit consisted of talks about the importance of durable data storage, data decentralisation, and critiques of the centralised data economy. A few talks included CTO Dmitry Ryajov's vision for the future of Codex and data decentralisation, a panel on the data economy and data surveillance, and a more technical panel called “Future of Privacy in Web3: Beyond Theoretical Concepts to Real-World Applications.”
The event also included an interactive workshop hosted by Codex. In the presentation, Aqeel provided an overview of Codex and the team's vision. Then, Arnaud walked the audience through the Codex dashboard and explained its intricacies in exquisite detail, including how storage provision will work with the Codex token and how to initiate a storage request.
Codex also brought in two epic DJs, Pam Anantr and Elaheh, for the afterparty, resulting in a bash of epic proportions to finish the night with a celebratory hoorah. In total, 2,156 registered attendees came together at the Soho House.
